What's wrong with the hit-sounds?

You can now only hear them in close combat. If you are too far away from your victim, you will not be able to hear your victim's pain or the bullet flying through flesh anymore. So they are more realistic this way.

Perhaps you should be asking why they worked so silly in the past or can you hear a raccoon fart in the the distance?
